Beliefs

Jesus

Jesus is the Son of God: Midpoint Baptist Church endeavors to lift up the name of Jesus and make Him our goal and motive in everything we do from music and teaching, to greeting visitors and teaching children.

Jesus was fully God and fully human: We believe that Jesus is God in the flesh, that all the attributes of God are possessed by Him. Jesus was also fully human and lived a perfect and sinless life.         See 1 Timothy 2:5 and John 1:14

Jesus was born of a virgin: We believe Jesus was born to the virgin Mary and was conceived of the Holy Spirit. See Isaiah 7:14 and Matthew 1:18-25

Jesus was a sinless sacrifice: We believe Jesus lived the sinless life that no human ever could, was nailed to a cross to pay for the sin that we could never pay for, was buried and rose from the dead three days later. See John 3:16, 1 John 2:2 and Hebrews 9:12

Bible

The Bible: Midpoint Baptist Church is founded on the rock of God’s Word and will endeavor to preach It passionately and follow It unapologetically.

The Bible was revealed by God: We believe that the Bible, which includes 66 books from Genesis to Revelation, was revealed and verbally inspired by God, recorded by Holy men, and is preserved for all time. We believe that the King James Version is the preserved Word of God for the English-speaking people to be used in this church. See 2 Timothy 3:16, 2 Peter 1:20-21, Isaiah 40:8 and Matthew 24:35

The Bible is inerrant: We believe Gods Word is truth without error and infallible.  See John 17:17, Psalm 30:5, and Psalm 19:7

The Bible is our final authority: We believe the bible is the final authority for all matters of faith and practice. See 2 Timothy 3:16-17, Hebrews 4:12

Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit: Midpoint Baptist strives to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit and teach believers to exercise their spiritual gifts in the ministration of the church.

His Person: We believe the Holy Spirit is coequal with God the Father and God the Son as the third part of the trinity. See 2 Corinthians 13:14 and 1 John 5:7-8

The Holy Spirit indwells believers: We believe the Holy Spirit regenerates every person that accepts Christ by faith and that He takes up residence in that person as a down payment, an earnest, on Gods promise of eternal life with Him in Heaven. See Acts 1:8 and 2 Corinthians 5:5

The Holy Spirit strengthens: We believe the Holy Spirit sanctifies, grows, convicts, comforts, leads, illuminates the scriptures and empowers the believer.

Spiritual gifts: At the moment of salvation, the Holy Spirit confers a spiritual gift upon every believer to be used for the glory of God and the edification of the church. Although the Holy Spirit can still perform miracles today and move in mighty ways, we believe the gift of tongues and sign gifts ceased with the apostles and the completion of the canon of scripture. See 1 Peter 4:10-11 and

1 Corinthians 14:40

Yielded: It should be the desire and goal of every believer to be completely surrendered and yielded to the will of the Holy Spirit. See Galatians 5:25, Acts 4:31 and 1 Corinthians 6:19-20

Church

The Church: Midpoint Baptist Church endeavors to be distinct from the world in its presentation and expression of worship, and separate from apostasy and false doctrine, while still being a beacon of hope and acceptance to those who are far from God.

Glorify God: We believe the foremost purpose of the church, just as the individual believer, is to glorify, magnify, and bring honor to God. See 1 Peter 4:10-11 and Colossians 3:23-24

Reach the world: We believe the chief function of the church is to make Christ known to all the world, and train new converts, through discipleship, to do likewise. See Matthew 28:19-20

Members: Every believer should be active in his/her local church through baptism, which the first step of obedience after salvation, then attendance, giving, serving, the Lords Table, and fellowship. See Acts 2:41 and Hebrews 10:25

Set apart: We believe the church, just as the individual believer, is to be distinct and set apart to God in every function, expression of worship, practice and endeavor it undertakes. See Romans 12:1-2, 2 Timothy 3:1-5, 1 John 2:15-17 and 1 Peter 2:9

Salvation

Salvation: The message of Midpoint Baptist Church is that Jesus saves. This message will be our heartbeat and passion. From friend to friend, house to house, and neighborhood to neighborhood, we will reach our city with the Gospel.

Sin debt: Humankind is sinful and every person has fallen short of Gods standard. Our personal choice to sin and the sin nature we have inherited from Adam has accrued a sin debt that we can never pay. because humankind cannot pay this debt we are destined to spend eternity apart from God in Hell. See Romans 6:23 and Romans 3:23

Faith alone: We believe Salvation is by grace through faith in Christ alone. Christs shed blood and substitionary death on the cross payed for our sin debt, and imputed the righteousness of God upon anyone who believes. Christ conquered death and triumphed over the grave when He resurrected from the dead three days later. See Galatians 2:16, John 1:12, Romans 5:1 and John 14:6

Not of works: We believe that salvation cannot be achieved by human effort or goodness. if salvation can be attained by works of righteousness, Christs death was in vain. faith plus works is faith in works. See Ephesians 2:8-9, Titus 3:5 and Galatians 2:21

THE LAST DAYS

We believe in the literal interpretation of the Scriptures in their grammatical and historical context. We believe in the pre-tribulational rapture of the church saints, followed by the seven-year tribulation.

Pre-Millennial: We believe in the pre-millennial return of Christ to the earth and His literal rule of 1,000 years. Following this one-thousand-year reign is the Great White Throne judgment and then the new heaven and new earth. See 1 Corinthians 15:51-58; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18; 1 Thessalonians 5:1-9; Revelation 19-22
